The Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop is “a local, nonprofit thrift shop promoting equity in our community by supporting Ann Arbor Public Schools’ parent teacher organizations and student activities.” It was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1993 and had its first sale in 1994 in Tappan Middle School’s cafeteria. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the shop now occupies over 22,000 square feet of its own retail space.

Most books (and other media) are kept in their own nook located behind the checkout area and down a very short hallway. Craft and activity books are shelved in the craft area. Children and teen paperback books are 25¢ each. All other books are priced as marked. Most seem to be priced at $1 or $2. Books are generally in fair to good condition, bearing in mind that they are used. Several genres are represented, as one would expect from a very small used bookstore. Amount of stock varies.
